Very practical. Efficient enough (SWR 1.2).

Easily holds on magnetically to car roof. Ran cable through foam with closed window, excess cable looped as recommended under passenger seat. Both car...Mehr
Easily holds on magnetically to car roof. Ran cable through foam with closed window, excess cable looped as recommended under passenger seat. Both cars with same antenna reliably communicated 3.8 miles through winding roadway, trees, buildings, etc. The best SWR was 1.2, which means only 10% of radio energy is reflected back. Would take a much larger antenna to get slightly more efficiency. Need SWR meter to tune the antenna. Allen wrench was included, and adjustment in height was only 1/8 inch. For the other car, no adjustment required, according to the SWR reading.
