I bought this as a birthday gift for my brother, who’s into hiking and camping. He absolutely loves it. He said the setup was easy, the range was better than expected, and the USB-C charging is super convenient. He’s already used it to stay in touch with his group on a weekend trip and was impressed with the clarity. The packaging was neat, and it came with all the accessories. Now I’m thinking of getting one for myself. Fantastic little radio for the price.

I use the UV-K1 Mini primarily for scanning local public safety and amateur frequencies. The scan speed is fast, and the squelch settings are adjustable enough to block out noise. The wideband receive from 50-600MHz is impressive for a handheld this small. I’ve picked up signals I couldn’t get on my older scanner. The battery life with the 1400mAh pack is about 10 hours of scanning, which is plenty for me. If you’re into monitoring, this is a great budget option.

This thing is tiny—about the size of my palm—but it’s packed with features. 200 channels, FM radio, DTMF, CTCSS/DCS, scrambler… the list goes on. I especially like the DIY power-on photo feature; I set it to a picture of my dog, which makes me smile every time I turn it on. The belt clip is sturdy, and the included hand strap is a nice touch. It’s become my everyday carry radio. Well done, Quansheng.

I wasn’t expecting much from a sub-$25 radio, but the audio quality on both transmit and receive is surprisingly clear. The speaker is loud enough for outdoor use, and the stock antenna performs well on 2m and 70cm. I’ve compared it side-by-side with radios costing three times as much, and honestly, the difference is minimal. The one-click frequency copy made it easy to sync up with my hiking group. For the money, you simply can’t beat it.

I bought this to keep in my go-bag. It covers VHF/UHF, receives NOAA weather alerts, and has a built-in flashlight—all critical features for emergencies. The emergency alarm function works as advertised, and the VOX hands-free operation is useful when my hands are full. The battery lasts a long time, and I can recharge it with a solar power bank via USB-C. It’s small enough to toss in any bag and forget about until you need it. A must-have for preppers.

I own the UV-K5 and loved it, so I was curious about the new UV-K1 Mini. It’s noticeably more compact and has USB-C charging, which is a huge convenience. The 2MB flash memory means there’s more room for firmware updates down the line—I’ve already seen some custom firmware in development. Reception on the 70cm band seems slightly better than my K5. It’s not a massive upgrade, but for a new buyer, this is the one to get. Great little radio.

I opted for the 2500mAh battery version, and I’m glad I did. I used it for a weekend camping trip—about 14 hours of intermittent use—and it still had plenty of charge left. The radio feels rugged and well-made, definitely a step up from some of the flimsier HTs I’ve owned. The 10-group scrambler is a nice touch for keeping conversations private on group hikes. USB-C charging means I can top it up from my car or solar panel. Very happy with this purchase.

As a private pilot and aviation geek, I wanted a handheld that could monitor airband frequencies without spending a fortune. This radio receives 108-136MHz AM/FM aviation bands clearly. I’ve been listening to tower and approach communications at my local airport with no issues. The NOAA weather reception is also spot-on for pre-flight checks. It’s lightweight, fits in my flight bag, and the battery lasts through a full day of flying. Excellent value.

Just got my technician license and wanted something affordable and simple to start with. The UV-K1 Mini is perfect. It arrived well-packaged with everything needed: radio, antenna, belt clip, and a desktop charger. Programming the 200 channels was straightforward with the PC software, and I love that I can name each channel. The NOAA weather channels are a nice bonus for storm season. It feels solid in the hand and the 1.44″ display is easy to read. Great beginner radio!

I picked up the UV-K1 Mini as a backup to my main handheld, and honestly, it’s quickly becoming my go-to. The 5W transmit power is impressive for such a tiny package. I was able to hit my local repeater from about 8 miles out with a clear signal. The USB-C charging is a game-changer—I just plug it into my power bank when I’m out hiking. For the price, this little radio punches way above its weight. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a reliable, compact HT.
